Razor Coast in HeroLab problems with new release

Forums:

The latest core Pathfinder update for HeroLab now includes Razor Coast content.

Initially, there was a small error, but the ongoing efforts to tweak the files are producing more and more issues. For example, a functional change in the workings of HeroLab requires that some items be altered/re-written to work differently.

Specifically, from the release notes on v13.8 of Pathfinder for HeroLab: "SelectHelp" things are no longer all added to the hero as picks. Any menus (on feats, for example) which select from SelectHelp picks will now automatically choose from SelectHelp things instead. All old portfolios will automatically transition from having picks selected to having things selected. Any user code which relies on SelectHelp picks being present on the hero (to assign tags to them, for example) must be changed.

A version 13.9 was released to address the intial duplication error reported (The following errors occurred:
File: FrogGodGames_CorePackage_Languages.user (line 23) - Thing - Duplicate record encountered ('lFGTulita') ) but following that, errors with SelectHelp items were found.

I am concerned that other packages that I have (Lost City of Barakus, Rappan Athuk, Stoneheart Valley) may also experience either duplication issues if they are released through Lone Wolf for general purchase, or other functional issues may be in the packages I already have.

In the past, other publishers have worked with Lone Wolf to identify kickstarter backers who should receive the integrated content as delivery of the kickstarter rewards.

What is Frog God Games' plan for these files going forward? What, if any, remedy is planned?

Hi, I suggest you message the frogs on facebook or email them about this issue. The devs don't really monitor these forums regularly.

Cycnet is correct that the Frogs rarely monitor these forums very much.  But they do come here when I send them an email saying something needs addressing usually.  So you can continue to post here and know they will be notified of things.

Zach is working on redoing the website and the forums.  I have no idea when the change will happen.

Silverhair AKA The Noble Herald Frog

I also sent an email in addition to this forum post. The post is mostly so that other users can see that there's an issue. There are other users on the LoneWolf forums for HeroLab reporting the issue, but it looks like the people who post both here and there are limited.

Two of the FGG hero lab files don't like the new update.

And two of the FGG hero lab files don't mind it.

I do not get any error at all, with Barakus.hl

RappanAthuk_KS.hl -- has one error; one of the Paizo books added a Craft Poison skill, with the same details as that from the RA file.  If you delete the Craft Poison (only skill entry) within the editor for the RA file, it then runs fine from then onwards.

The new HL content for Razor Coast messes up both of these: FGG_Stoneheart_Valley_V1.0.hl & FGG_Razor_Coast_V1.0.hl -- Hero lab will not start, it goes into safe mode, and wants you to fix things in the editor.  While in safe mode, no user content runs including all 3rd party stuff including things without their own issues.

So if we remove the FGG_Stoneheart_Valley_V1.0.hl it should be ok.
